Wedding favours do not always have to be chocolates or cookies—they can also come with a surprise waiting to be revealed! A bride from Kota Kinabalu prepared more than 500 wedding favours containing 4D lottery tickets, and several guests actually won prizes.
According to Sin Chew Daily, the bride shared the story on her Threads account, @debiean.d. She revealed that some guests had winning tickets but said she had no regrets about giving them away. She also thanked those who helped pack the more than 500 favours.
4D Lottery Tickets Give Wedding Guests Something Extra to Look Forward To
While wedding favours usually offer guests a keepsake, this bride chose lottery tickets to add an element of anticipation. After enjoying the reception, guests could check the draw results to see whether their gift had brought an additional surprise.
For several guests, it did. However, the report did not disclose the ticket numbers, lottery operator or amounts won.
Another Guest Shares a Similar Wedding Experience
The post prompted others to share their experiences. One commenter recalled attending a Chinese friend’s wedding the previous weekend, where lottery tickets were also given as favours. Muslim guests, however, received a bottle of honey instead.
That account referred to a separate wedding, rather than the Kota Kinabalu bride’s reception. The thoughtful choice of different gifts for different guests added another talking point to the discussion.
Another commenter wondered whether lottery tickets could be purchased several days ahead, having assumed they were only bought on the day of the draw. Advance purchase arrangements depend on the operator and selected draws.
Winning Guests and Warm Wishes for the Bride
Beyond discussing the unusual favours, commenters also congratulated the bride on her creativity. Some remarked on the winning guests’ good fortune and wished the newlyweds even more happiness and luck.
For the guests who won, the wedding offered more than a celebration and a memorable gift—it came with an unexpected bonus after the reception.
